Samurai, a source of Japanese pride, have captivated people around the world. Yoshikuni decided to expand internationally, driven by the idea of offering a new design for these captivating samurai. This blog post shares the story behind that decision.
We want to create a new image of samurai that no one has ever seen before.
This is our belief. By boldly using fantastic and unique graphics, we express the samurai motif, which previously had a fixed image, in a colorful and modern way. We are excited to see how "Samurai Typography," which uses historical facts about samurai expressed in English and properly formatted, will be received overseas.
Designer Inoue has previously uploaded his works on Instagram and often received comments from people overseas. In fact, he collaborated with Chris Glenn, a radio DJ residing in Nagoya who liked his work, to create Nagoya Castle typography.
We want to interact more with people overseas.
With this in mind, we started selling our products at J + B STORE in Brooklyn, New York, last November. Next time, we will tell you more about this.
